What’s extraordinary: Centerpiece Films
Four worldwide movies including Noblemen, a narrative feature film, starring Bollywood director Kunal Kapoor will be screened amid the celebration. This Vandana Kataria directorial is an adaptation of the play ‘Merchant of Venice’ by William Shakespeare which discusses the battles of a 15-year-old kid who is threatened by a group of spooks and occasions in his adolescent years which prompt death toll.“I’m very happy to know that our film has been selected to premiere at the KASHISH 2018. ‘Noblemen’ is a humble and honest attempt to highlight bullying and the effects it can cause on the society at large. I am sure our film will resonate with the audience,” says Kunal Kapoor.
“This year at KASHISH we are excited to be screening 6 Indian feature films, each one of them telling a different story, highlighting aspects of not only LGBTQ lives, but emotions of every human being. ‘Noblemen’ is one of those rare films that push the boundary, by being bold and gritty, yet remain sensitive and nuanced. You empathize with each of the characters and join them on a roller-coaster journey of happiness and anguish. We hope the audiences at KASHISH are not only entertained but carry back a strong message,” says festival director Sridhar Rangayan.
Voted as one of the Top 5 LGBT Film Festival in the World, KASHISH MIQFF is the only LGBT film festival in India to be held in a mainstream theatre. Founded in 2010, KASHISH is held over 5 days at three venues. It is the first Indian LGBT festival to be held with approval by the Information & Broadcasting Ministry, Government of India. The festival is presented by KASHISH Arts Foundation and organized by Solaris Pictures.
