Heteronormativity is the belief or assumption that all people are heterosexual, or that heterosexuality is the default or “normal” state of human being. it wont be wrong to say that our societies are largely think heteronormative.

As part of the Prajnya 2017 a 16 Days Campaign against Gender Violence, Prajnya partners with the Orinam collective to bring you an open mic session ‘Beyond Heteronormativity’ to be held on Sunday, December 3, 2017, from 3.30 to 5.30 p.m.

Venue will be shared upon registration. You can write to either on orinam.net@gmail.com or prajnya.16days@gmail.com.

The event will explore, through personal narratives, creative expression (poetry, spoken word) and a panel discussion, the lives of those of us who exist outside of the binary gender and heterosexual norms. It will strive to enhance our understanding of homophobia, biphobia, interphobia and transphobia as forms of gender-based violence.

Do confirm your attendance by return email. If you are a member of the LGBTIQA+ communities and would like to share personal narratives, your poetry, or other readings, please sign up by dropping an email to orinam.net@gmail.com or a text/WhatsApp message to 98415-57983.

Hope to see you there
